Manual for Kiso Acoustic
PODIUM speaker standsThank you for investing in the PODIUM speaker stand that was especially developed for the Kiso Acoustic HB-1 loudspeaker system.
The HB-1 works best when the center of the tweeter is approximately 10cm – 15cm lower than ear height when seated; i.e. a bit lower than most loudspeaker systems.
The top plate of the PODIUM stand mimics the footprint of the HB-1 loudspeaker. The height of the PODIUM has been made to place the HB-1 speaker at the correct listening height when the listener's ears are 95cm (+/-5cm) above the floor (i.e., when the listener is seated)
The PODIUM is shipped with 3 feet screwed into each bottom plate. Straight out of the box, the feet are set to the most retracted position, which gives the shortest stand height).
It is possible to adjust the feet height by first loosening the knurled nuts above the feet. Twist each nut counterclockwise to loosen it, and twist each foot counterclockwise to increase the height (conversely, twisting each foot clockwise will decrease the height).
The PODIUM's adjustable feet can also be used to adjust its vertical angle. The HB-1 and PODIUM stand work best when they are perfectly vertical. Place a precision bubble level on the top plate of the PODIUM, and adjust the height of each foot until the top plate is horizontal.
After adjusting the PODIUM stand to the desired height and vertical angle, be sure that the knurled nuts above each foot have been fully twisted clockwise (tightened) to lock them. Failure to do so may impair performance.
The HB-1 includes 8 squares of clear gel insulators. For optimal performance, place one gel square at each corner of the PODIUM's top plate, and place the HB-1 on these gel squares (so the gel squares are sandwiched between the HB-1 and PODIUM top plate).
The PODIUM also includes 6 squares of clear gel insulators. These are somewhat larger than those included with the HB-1, and are intended to be placed between the adjustable feet of the PODIUM and the floor. Please experiment (with or without gel insulators between feet and floor) to obtain the best sonic results in your listening environment.
For other instructions regarding listening environments and set-up, please refer to the instruction manual for the HB-1.
Note: The PODIUM is a tripod stand. Although it incorporates outrigger feet to make it harder to tip over, please observe sensible precautions when setting up the HB-1 and PODIUM, when using them, and in daily life.
